Bishop Road Primary School is situated in the heart of Bishopston, Bristol. It is one of the largest primary schools in Bristol educating over 800 pupils.
They are a very story centred school that values reading and literature, as is crucial to the school’s culture and ethos.
The school had an unusable space between classroom extensions that they wanted put to better use. The area was enclosed by walls with a rough and uneven surface and provided little educational enrichment.
Bishop Road Primary School wanted to create an outdoor, multiuse area that made the most of the limited space. They wanted to be able to teach groups of children outside in an enjoyable, fun and creative setting.
We created a bespoke Story Garden Area, that was an inspirational and imaginative break out space for the children and teachers. We incorporated themes from classic literature into the design, for example a yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz, a lamp from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and an Alice in Wonderland small door.
"This story garden is as perfect as it can be, a grotty yard has been transformed into a golden space for all!"
