KS1All about Georgia, our Playground Consultant
Who knew "Playground Consultant" was a job title? It takes many different skill sets to get a playground or outdoor learning space from an idea to reality. Georgia plays an integral part of the process as she sees an under utilised space and converts it into a playground that adds value to the school day.
Georgia is the person you will meet to discuss your playground. She listens to your ideas and vision for the area, measures and then heads back to the office to plan your dream playground. Georgia hands over her ideas to our Playground Designer (Dan-see previous blog all about him here). Dan then designs the space and creates a 3D design of your proposed playground for Georgia to present to you.
How did Georgia become a Playground Consultant?
dbdplay is a family business - Mum and Dad (Rachael and Ed) have been involved in children's playgrounds since Georgia was born - In fact Ed was out on site installing a playground when he got the call that Rachael was going into labour! Georgia grew up listening to her parents talking about the benefits of children's play, and they lived a very active childhood. Georgia and her two brothers were chief product testers! Lockdown presented an opportunity for Georgia to become more involved in the family business and Georgia jumped at the chance.
What do you love about your job?
"I enjoy working with my family, and learning more about the technical elements to playground design and installation"
I love the buzz and energy of a school and creating long-term connections with school customers. It's amazing seeing children use their play areas. Nothing is more rewarding than returning to a school where you have completed work and seeing and hearing how the playground has benefitted the children. I also love seeing how the children play and use the space. They are always so inventive!
My goal is to be a support to schools by assessing an area and using my practical knowledge and creativity to meet the school's wishes. Whether that be better visibility across the playground, more physical opportunities, sensory garden, nature walks; the outcomes are endless!"
Georgia's favourite things
"Playing hockey for my local club (with my mum), walking my dog, cold water swimming, cooking and baking. I love being active and outdoors as much as I can and spending time with my family and friends."

KS1The team at dbdplay did a fantastic job transforming our play area at the heart of the school. They managed a complicated build during term time and we are grateful for the finished product.
The only issue we have now is getting the children and families to leave at the end of the day :)
May Park Primary School
BristolOur most complex learners are now better able to engage with an increasing range of outdoor learning opportunities.
Outdoor spaces are vital to help those who experience multi-sensory processing difficulties develop their senses and gain and understanding of their place in the world.
The garden will not only enable a more holistic learning experience but will support overall health and wellbeing.
Treloar School
HampshireThe children have been thoroughly enjoying our brand new play equipment at both KS1 and KS2 and it has been a joy to watch all their smiles and giggles in the sunshine.
Many break times and lunchtimes are now spent swinging and balancing on the fantastic new equipment.
